The Youth Science Discovery Experience is a science enrichment program developed for young scientists currently enrolled in high school. YSDE teams conduct their own research with guidance from scientists enthusiastic about sharing their expertise with students. YSDE provides a fun and encouraging environment to explore new ideas and activities while getting a taste of the scientific process and developing problem-solving skills that apply to all areas of study and life.
YSDE participants work on site at the Canaan Valley Institute during three short visits throughout the year and continue their research at home between the residential sessions. This site is a central hub for communication with and between alumni of the YSDE program. It also hosts the archived web sites for each program year, serving as a permanent yearbook of images, video and more for students within the program.
